Delkor are the world leaders in Horizontal Vacuum Belt filtration having considerable experience of solving solid/liquid seperation problems in the Chemical, Metallurgical, Fertiliser and Environmental Industries.

DELKOR HORIZONTAL BELT VACUUM FILTERS

Delkor offer a range of filters from  1 m2 pilot filter up to 250 m2 of effective filtration area with a single rubber belt. All these units are capable of running at speeds of up to 60 metres per minute at vacuum of 80 torr (27 inches mercury).

The Delkor Horizontal Vacuum Belt Filter provides reliable continuous filtration incorporating multi-stage counter current cake washing to suit a wide variety of process applications.

Washing Applications

Highest extraction efficiency with minimum use of washing liquor is the key to profitability in all filtration washing applications, whether phosphoric acid, soda ash, alumina, gold, uranium or copper.

Washing can be single stage, multi stage co-current or multi-stage counter-current depending on how much wash water is available. Delkor has a number of techniques which give ease of operation and a high wash efficiency.

Co-current washing Counter current washing

Co-current Washing

Co-current washing in several stages gives excellent washing efficiency when filtrate dilution is not critical. Typical applications:

  • Gold Silver recovery in cyanide processes

  • Recovery of metals in solution following by precipitation.

  • Washing of phosphate rock.

  • Recovery of manganese.

  • Cement copper washing.

  •  Washing in CCD circuits as first or final stage.

  • Catalyst Washing.

  • Glass Sand Washing.

  • Uranium Yellow Cake Washing.

  • Pigments.

Counter-current Washing

This method is used when down-stream treatment of filtrates requires minimum dilution such as when filtrates have to be concentrated by evaporation or when limited wash water is available. Typical applications:

  • Hemi-and-Dihydrate calcium sulphate from phosphoric acid or Flue Gas cleaning

  • Recovery of alumina from sintered mud.

  • Uranium recovery after acid or carbonate leaching

  • Lime mud washing

  • Cellulose pulp washing

  • Soda ash washing

  • Vanadium and Tungsten recovery

  • Zinc jarosite washing

Drying Applications

Delkor Belt Filters are very economical for dewatering and drying large tonnages of solids compared with other vacuum filters and give lower residual cake moistures with lower capital and operating costs. Typical Applications:

a)      Drying of floation concentrates and tailings:

  • Coal

  • Copper

  • Zinc

  • Pyrite

  • Lead

  • Phosphate rock

  • Nickel

  • Activated Carbon

b)      Drying of heavy and coarse materials including:

  • Ilmenite

  • Iron ore

  • Rutile

  • Silica Sand

  • Zircon

  • Power Station Ashes

  • Chromite

  • Tin

  • Dewatering of paper machine effluents

  • Smuts from bagasse boilers

  • Mineral Sands

c)      Dewatering of Mineral slurries, sludges and effluents.

HI-RATE CLARIFIER/THICKENER

Delkor Hi-Rate Thickener/Clarifiers offer significant advantages over conventional thickeners by using fluidised sludge bed principle for solids separation. Delkor Hi-Rate Thickeners inject the feed near the bottom of the unit. The feed solids form a fluid bed above the feed injection point and the slurry is then filtered as it flows upwards through the fluid bed. The bed is fluidized by the upflowing liquid and the free settling zone of a conventional thickener is eliminated.

The Delkor Hi-Rate Thickener has a low residence time which makes process control much easier than with conventional thickeners. The efficient use of flocculant costs and the large bed compression, section beneath the feed injection point, provides high underflow densities.

The Delkor Hi-Rate design gives exceptionally high clarities when designed to operate as a clarifier.

Benefits

  • Low capital cost

  • Low flocculant consumption/Low operating cost

  • Less than half the size of conventional sedimenting clarifier/thickeners

  • Exceptionally clear overflow

  • Can operate as a clarifier and a thickener-in one unit

  • Low solids retention time

  • Continuous lab testing equipment gives accurate sizing
